Creamy Cajun Salmon & Shrimp is a rich, restaurant-style skillet meal that combines seared salmon, juicy shrimp, and a spicy, creamy Cajun sauce. Here’s a solid home version you can make in about 30–40 minutes.
Ingredients
Seafood
- 2 salmon fillets
- 200–250 g shrimp (peeled & deveined)
- 1–1½ tbsp Cajun seasoning
- Salt & black pepper
- 1–2 tbsp oil or butter
Creamy Cajun Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped, optional)
- 1 cup cooking cream (or heavy cream)
- ½ cup chicken broth (or water)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan (optional but recommended)
- 1 tsp paprika (extra smoky depth)
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Lemon juice (a squeeze at the end)
Instructions
1. Season & sear seafood
- Coat salmon and shrimp with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear salmon 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, cook shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove.
2. Build the sauce
- Lower heat to medium.
- Melt butter in the same pan.
- Add garlic (and onion if using) and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in cream and chicken broth.
- Add paprika, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
3. Finish it
- Stir in Parmesan (if using).
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
- Return salmon and shrimp to the pan.
- Spoon sauce over everything and let it simmer 1–2 minutes.
Serving ideas
- Steamed rice or garlic butter rice
- Pasta (fettuccine works really well)
- Mashed potatoes
- Or low-carb option: sautéed spinach or zucchini noodles
If you want, I can also adjust it for spicier Pakistani-style heat, make it budget-friendly, or turn it into a one-pan pasta version.
