Gentle “rice water” rinse
-
Rinse 1 tablespoon of uncooked rice thoroughly.
-
Soak it in ½ cup of clean water for about 15–20 minutes.
-
Strain the water.
-
Swish the rice water around your mouth for 30–60 seconds.
-
Spit it out and rinse with plain water.
-
Brush normally with a fluoride toothpaste.
This may freshen your mouth, but it should not be expected to bleach or noticeably whiten teeth.
For actual whitening, look for an ADA-accepted whitening toothpaste or peroxide-based whitening product and follow its directions. Avoid lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda scrubs, or charcoal rubbing, which can damage or irritate teeth.
