Absolutely — the old-school trick is usually white vinegar + baking soda, but there’s an even easier version if the cloudiness is from hard-water/mineral buildup.
Nana’s crystal-clear glass trick
You’ll need:
- 1 cup white distilled vinegar
- 1 cup warm water
- A soft sponge or microfiber cloth
- A clean towel
Steps:
- Mix the vinegar and warm water in a bowl or container.
- Soak the cloudy glasses in the mixture for about 15–30 minutes. If they’re too large to soak, fill them with the mixture and let it sit.
- Remove the glasses and gently wipe them with a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. You shouldn’t need to scrub hard—the vinegar dissolves the mineral film.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Dry immediately with a lint-free towel. This prevents fresh water spots from forming.
- For stubborn spots, dip a cloth in straight white vinegar, rub the affected area for 30–60 seconds, then rinse and dry.
The “0 effort” version: Put the cloudy glasses in a basin, cover them with equal parts warm water and white vinegar, walk away for 30 minutes, rinse, and dry. ✨
Important: If the glass remains cloudy after vinegar treatment, it may be etched glass rather than mineral buildup. Etching is permanent and can’t be removed with a cleaning solution.
And skip the baking soda for this job—vinegar is acidic and baking soda is alkaline, so mixing them mostly makes them fizz and neutralize each other rather than giving you a stronger cleaner.
