Tropical Fruit Punch 🍹
A bright, refreshing punch that’s sweet, tangy, fruity, and perfect for parties, brunches, or summer gatherings.
Ingredients — about 10–12 servings
- 4 cups pineapple juice, chilled
- 3 cups orange juice, chilled
- 2 cups mango nectar or mango juice, chilled
- 2 cups passion-fruit juice or passion-fruit nectar
- 1 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 cups ginger ale, Sprite, or lemon-lime soda, chilled
- 1–2 cups cold sparkling water — optional, for a lighter punch
- ½ cup simple syrup, optional, depending on sweetness
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1 lime, thinly sliced
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 cup mango chunks
- Ice
For the simple syrup
If your fruit juices aren’t very sweet:
- Combine ½ cup sugar + ½ cup water in a small saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Cool completely before adding it to the punch.
Step-by-step
1. Chill everything first.
Refrigerate the juices, soda, and fruit for at least 2–3 hours. Starting with cold ingredients means you won’t need as much ice, which keeps the punch from becoming watery.
2. Prepare the fruit.
Slice the orange and lime into thin rounds. Cut the mango and pineapple into bite-sized pieces.
3. Combine the juices.
In a large punch bowl or drink dispenser, add:
- Pineapple juice
- Orange juice
- Mango nectar
- Passion-fruit juice
- Fresh lime juice
Stir gently until everything is well combined.
4. Taste before sweetening.
This is important because different brands of juice have very different sweetness levels. If the punch tastes too tart, add simple syrup 1–2 tablespoons at a time until it’s balanced.
5. Add the fruit.
Add the orange slices, lime slices, pineapple, and mango. Let them sit in the punch for about 15–30 minutes so their flavors can mingle.
6. Add the carbonation last.
Just before serving, pour in the chilled ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Add sparkling water if you’d like it less sweet.
Stir very gently so you don’t lose too much carbonation.
7. Add ice and serve.
Add plenty of ice immediately before serving, or even better, put ice in individual glasses rather than the punch bowl. This keeps the punch cold without diluting the entire batch.
🍍 For an extra-tropical version
For a richer, more exotic flavor, try adding:
- ½–1 cup guava nectar
- ½ cup coconut water
- A few fresh passion fruits
- Fresh mint leaves
- A small amount of ginger juice
- Frozen pineapple or mango instead of some of the ice
🥥 Creamy tropical punch
For a creamy version, blend 1 cup coconut cream with about 2 cups of the pineapple/mango juice mixture, then stir it back into the punch. Add the soda carefully at the end.
🍹 Party-size version — about 20–25 servings
For a larger gathering, use:
- 8 cups pineapple juice
- 6 cups orange juice
- 4 cups mango nectar
- 4 cups passion-fruit juice
- 2 cups lime juice
- 4 cups ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
- 2–4 cups sparkling water, as desired
- Fresh pineapple, mango, orange, and lime
- Ice
Best tip: Make the juice mixture several hours ahead and refrigerate it. Add the soda, sparkling water, and ice right before guests arrive. This gives you a punch that tastes fresh, fruity, and fizzy rather than flat and diluted.
