If you’ve seen videos titled “Just spray this and your Anthuriums bloom like crazy with lots of roots”, they’re usually referring to a homemade plant tonic. While no spray can guarantee nonstop flowering, a gentle nutrient spray can support healthy growth when combined with proper care.
Homemade Anthurium Growth & Bloom Spray
Ingredients
- 1 liter (4 cups) clean water
- 1 teaspoon rice water (fermented for 24 hours, optional)
- 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel (fresh or pure)
- 2–3 drops liquid seaweed extract (or ¼ teaspoon seaweed powder if available)
- 1 drop mild liquid soap (optional, helps the spray stick to leaves)
How to Make It
- Fill a clean spray bottle with 1 liter of water.
- Add the rice water.
- Mix in the aloe vera gel until dissolved.
- Add the seaweed extract.
- If using, add one drop of mild liquid soap.
- Shake well before each use.
How to Apply
- Spray both the tops and undersides of the leaves.
- Avoid spraying directly onto open flowers.
- Apply early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
- Use once every 10–14 days.
Alternative Root-Boosting Watering Mix
Instead of spraying, you can water the plant once a month with:
- 1 liter water
- 1 teaspoon seaweed extract
- ½ teaspoon fish emulsion (optional)
Water the soil until it is evenly moist, but do not leave the pot standing in water.
